On Saturday, July 16th, I decided to try out one of the "other" Renaissance Faires. It seems there are quite a few of them occurring at irregular intervals in Southern California. I had so much fun at the Southern California Faire this year that I thought it would be cool to check out something different.

I decided to keep my costume simple this time. Just a red shirt and a hat. I had no idea what to expect from this faire, and I didn't want to spend any significant time or money. I just wanted to have a good time at the faire.

A friend and I left my place at 5:30am, stopped for breakfast, then headed up to Moro Bay (actually midway between San Luis Obispo and Moro Bay). It's almost a four hour drive, even at that time in the morning, and I wanted to get there as the faire opened. I've found the the opening ceremonies of faires can be quite fun.

This faire turned out to be quite a bit of fun. It's nowhere hear as large as the Southern California Faire (held in 2005 in the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area), but it has a charm all on it's own.

As usual, the faire has it's share of pretty ladies. I especially liked this woman, as she had a very pleasant personality and dressed very brightly. I thought her selection of colors for her costume was quite dramatic.

The picture to the right is me, petting a gopher snake. I love snakes, and this was an especially friendly critter. She tried to crawl up my sleeve a few times but I wouldn't let her.

If you've enjoyed your visit, please take a moment to drop some change into the tip jar to the left. Many thanks.
