Escondido Renaissance Faire, October 22nd,
2005

Official Web Site

My friend Sandra was supposed to go with me
to the Escondido faire, but she came down with a
case of food poisoning and couldn't come along.
Thus, I wound up going to this faire by myself.
As luck with have it, the day was dreary, with
lots of clouds, drizzle and cool temperatures.
This was a small faire to begin with, and the
poor weather made the turnout even smaller. Now,
personally, I love this kind of weather - there
is little worse than attending a faire in
extreme heat and dust.
After the two hours drive, I was greeted at
the front gate by a musician.

One of the reasons why I love Renaissance
Faire so much is the juggling acts. I love
juggling, and this fellow really has a
wonderfully funny act. He spices up an otherwise
simple juggling routine with some saucy language
and a little bit of craziness. I've seen him
many times, and I always enjoy his shows.

The fearsome looking fellow to the right was
one of the warriors in the battle that occurred
in the middle of the day. Some faires have
jousts, some have sword fights and some have
battles (the larger faires have them all). This
one had a great, thirty minute long battle right
after lunch. I got a good viewing location and
took some great pictures.

The Merry Wives of Windsor did a few acts on
the first two days of this faire. As always,
their show was delightful, funny and the ladies
were all, of course, gorgeous. I always make it
a point to see their show, if they make it to a
faire.
